It was used first time this past Wednesday. Everything went fine, machine did not go off ,not once. I did not bleed out when he removed the needle but by the time I got home my arm had turned black across the whole arm above the elbow.
Went in Friday and the girl decided it would be ok to use it . She found the vein no problem but when she lifted the chair to put me back it must have move because it quit working. So she had to use the cath. Now today I have a swollen area at the site and the arm is more bruised.
The thrill is stll there.
Ok should I use a warm heating pad or not ,to help disolve the blood.
The first time your fistula was used, did it bruise? This is a big bruise,as large as my left hand.

No bruising the first time mine was used. So far as the bruising, I'm not sure about the heating pad. Sorry you are having troubles, hope it gets better.

Hi,
What did your center say about the bruising, did they
tell you to do anything?  Being this is a new fistula,
I would be very careful if you think there is something
wrong.   A call to your vascular Dr would probably be
wise

The standard procedure is to apply heat first then the next day apply cold...Hope that helps you...Boxman

Mine bruised when it was first used, i put warm paks on for a few days plus my centre gave me a cream that brings out the bruise quick, most of my bruising was caused by the local anesthetic so i opted not to use it again. Good Luck
