I forgot to start a batch last night on my day off.  I ran around like crazy yesterday, doing chores and errands for my gram, got home late, and staggered off to bed yawning and incoherent, apparently.  I completely forgot about dialysis and my empty pureflow.  I didn't realize what I skipped until I went in this afternoon to start priming, and there sits my machine with no lights on and no finished batch.  Auuuughhh!  Now I get to do today's run with prebagged fluid and no heater.  Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!   This is what I'm going to feel like tonight -  :snowman;

My husband (patient) and I have done that, too!  So, if you're dumb, at least you're in good company.  You need a warmer for your machine!  The day we came home with NxStage, my husband called and requested a warmer -- he told them we were going on vacation.  They sent one a few days later.  We never sent it back (quite a few glitches with PureFlow and then forgetting to start a batch make it a necessity).  Marvin (my hubby) has had several calls from NxStage to send the warmer back, but he makes excuses every time.  He told me they would have to come and physically remove it from our house -- and then he'd be hanging on to their legs, yelling and screaming as they carried it out the door.  I think every NxStage user should have a warmer.

Brrrr!  I got smart, and quit early this run.  I did 15 L instead of the full 20.  I got most of the fluid off in that time.  I was at 95.4 degrees when I quit, with about 45 minutes to go if I had stayed on for a full run, but I was shivering too much to keep going.  I just started my batch, and I will run the next 3 days in a row, so I'll have plenty of dialysis to make up for the lost 5 L.  (I'm usually on 3, off 1, so on 4 will work out fine.)

Supposedly, the heaters are coming this month. I'll believe it when I see it!
