I was trying to sleep but I am WIDE AWAKE now. We just had an earthquake, looks like it was north of here near Wrightwood. Now I won't sleep for awhile, my heart is pounding so. It wasn't really powerful, but the "fight or flight" response kicks in and gets the adrenalin going. I hope it's just a small quake, but in the back of my mind is the thought that it might be a fore-shock. Anyone else feel it?

Hope everyone's ok and it was just a small one, not a precursor to something bigger. Let us know, karol!

the news reports that there has been an increase in seismic activity on the BC mainland near Quesnel, and may indicate a possibility of pending lava flow. (!)

The earthquake? We live near Los Angeles, CA - it was a little north of here.
The lava flow is near Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada.  :o

some years ago, before i became a kidney patient, i was teaching a simplified tai chi class to a group of seniors in the lower level rec room of their retirement res. we had just finished the class and everyone was getting ready to leave when a quake struck. it wasn't a big one, really, but it was big enough to shake things up a bit. it seemed like everyone in the room just suddenly shifted two feet to the left, in an instant, and it was over before we could react.
they all began to crowd around me, as if i knew what to do (!)
i just told them it was alright, it was over and we were ok.
it was one of the only quakes i've ever felt, since i moved here to the island ('88) although they say we have several a month.
with all the technology and knowledge we have now, it still can't be predicted with any accuracy, so worrying about quakes is pretty much a waste of energy, i think.

Unfortunately you all are having a drought and are experiencing water shortages in Georgia.  Now do I want a little old earthquake in So CA or no water?  Hmmm. I am a dialysis patient....hmmmmm.

I remember waking up one night and the windows were rattling. I found out there had been a very small quake in Connecticut. I live just south of there in Long Island Lawn Guyland NY.

I have only felt an earthquake once.. and it was when I lived in Las Vegas, however the quake we felt was the after stuff from Cali. I jumped like, 5 ft from my bed and ran to my parents room and i was like "Did you guys feel the floor move?!?!"  :lol;
