Hello. Just dropped in to say cool  site!
Here is a little about me. I hope you guys don't mind me dropping in from time to time.
37 (female)married with one child (boy -6) one dog(girl -9) One cat(girl-6 weeks).
My father is 70 something. Just started dialysis 4 weeks ago. ESRD. Well it's going ok. Just his fistula arm is nasty. It is so swollen-purpleish red and even weeping water. Just gross. Tuesday we get to do some dye test and see what is wrong with the thing. If he has a blockage or anything.
I think this is a great site. i couldn't get any real info from the Davita forum.  ;)
Thanks so much.

Welcome to the board!  Sorry to hear his fistula is giving him trouble, sorry I can't help you with that.  Hopefully they'll get that figured out soon.

Hi Trophywife,

Your Dad has a permacath in his chest, so he will be okay as long as it doesn't get infected.  I've had 3 of them for several months at a time and they were fine.  Take time to read through the topics and read the ones that interest you.

Welcome to the site.   ::)

Thanks. :) I knew there was a name for it. The Doctors talk so fast, and my dad gets so nervous at the appointments --it's hard to remember what they say. I'll read up. This site is great. :)

Welcome to our board.  Yes, this site is great!  As I keep saying (some might be tired of hearing me say it) I found it just before I started dialysis, and it took me through tremendously.  I knew what to look for, what questions to ask, etc.
My Dad was not as fortunate as your Dads here.  In my country, if you are a certain age, they don't even consider dialysis.  So do all you can for your Dad and enjoy the time you have with him.  And we are here to be with you as you go through this.

My dad is also on dialysis. He is also a diabetic. He started dialysis 3-months ago. How is your dad doing on it?
