Lake Monster

Hey del - I watched the show! It was an hour long. Your boat "Wave Over Wave" was in about 90% of the show! The area around Roberts Arm was beautiful, the lake just like the photos you have shared with us.
The program focused on the search for "Cressie", the mysterious creature allegedly lurking at the bottom of Lake Crescent in New Foundland.
They told about the Native American legends dating back centuries and referring to a "Pond Devil" and a "Swimming Demon".
Their research team was composed of divers, biologists and a forensic sketch artist. 
There have been recent sightings by witnesses who describe seeing a strange oversized eel. The sketch artist sat down with two eyewitnesses - Effie Colbourne - who saw something in 1991, and Fred Parsons, 1995, to sketch their visual recollections of the "monster."
The scientists used hi-tech equipment to get to the bottom of Lake Crescent. The had 2 kinds of sonar and an underwater robotic camera. The also sent divers down to see if the could discover any larger creatures in the lake.
There was also a scientist who came up with plausible explanations, such as it being a large log, buoyant due to rotting which would create methane gas, causing it to bob temporarily. Another explanation was that it could be otters, swimming in a line, making you see one head and 3 humps - which would appear like a serpent. He also said it could be a large saltwater conger eel, who had lost his way and come inland to the lake.
Because the lake is 6 miles long, and murky (visability no more than 4 feet due to sediment) they didn't have much luck with the camera. They put out a large crab trap filled with herring, which apparently eels love, but it remained uneaten.
At one point they all got excited over something swimming in the distance. The camera man zoomed in, trying to get a shot. They finally realized it was a beaver, swimming along.
So they never could say for sure what "Cressie" was - the mystery remains!

Thanks okarol!!  I hope the show will make tourists want to come here to catch a glimpse of Cressie!!!  We have a  beautiful hiking trail around the lake.  I can't wait to see the show. Personally I think it is a giant conger eeel.  People have seen large eels in the lake.
