okarol, this is a great idea! I also adapted the idea for my boss...his infant daughter died several months ago, and her first birthday is coming up, and he was saying he just didn't know what they would do to commemorate the day, so I told him about this article. He really liked the idea of doing some volunteer work or something on her birthday.

I wanted to do something to help someone else. I have 2 sisters and a brother with PKD so I am planning to donate a kidney to one of them, if needed, which is why I haven't donated to anyone yet. The reason I volunteer my time at www.livingdonorsonline.org and here on IHD (besides the fact that the people here are like a family!) is to somehow pay back what Jenna's altruistic donor did for her. Your boss will be making a difference for someone else while honoring his daughter's memory. It will help him too, I imagine, as coping with that kind of loss is very tough.
