Funny taste??

Can the various transplantation medications leave you with a funny taste? Although it's been over 7 months since my transplant, just in the last few weeks I've noticed a yucky taste ("metallic" is the only description that I can think of) that seems to come up my throat every now and then with a barely noticeable burp. Is this common?
I haven't had any recent changes in medication or diet.

The taste I get is more of a picled taste. It is like I just ate the most awesome pickle and I want another. I was having intense cravings for pickled banana peppers. Thankfully that has passed. Some of my electrolyes were off, but are better now. The cravings and taste are gone.

Although it took me months to work it out, the taste was the fish oil capsules that I had started taking! They were repeating on me, and they were just awful, particularly as I do not eat meat or fish.
I have ceased taking these now, and will look elsewhere for assistance with joint health and Omega 3 intake. Flaxseed, glucosamine etc.

cyco, my husband has recently been doing a lot of research on various supplements, and found that fish oil capsules can turn literally overnight, and because of the coating, you may not know it. You may try finding a liquid supplement, which, of course, would not have a coating of any kind. He managed to find one that has a lemon flavor added to it, and he says it doesn't taste fishy at all. His is Nordic Naturals Omega-3 liquid Purified Fish Oil; he said Carlson's Cod Liver Oil is also good for this, and also comes in the lemon flavor. Remember, keep it in the refrigerator!
Perhaps the reason the icky taste just started coming up is because your capsules had turned?

I received a 6 out of 6 antigen match transplant on January 9, 2008. Third transplant, first time on The List.

That's possible, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks KT. But I think I'm turned off for life, so I might try flaxseed.

I take 2 flaxseed oil pills every day and have had no problems with them. They have to be kept refrigerated.

I take 2 flaxseed capsules everyday too and they are great, no aftertaste. I only took fish oil capsules twice and they repeated on me all day and made me feel quite sick. Mine are capsules from Healthspan and they don't need to be refrigerated. They are great for vegetarians too as the coating is not made from gelatin.
