My name is Dave and I have been on Dialysis for about a year.  We were lucky to be able to do Home hemo with a Nexstage unit only 4 months into dialysis.  It's going good, although I think it is hard on my wife to do this every day after working and taking care of our daughter, but she
loves me. We've been married 37years, and are raising our 8 year old grand-daughter.  We have had her since she was 8 months old,and brings
such joy to our lives.  We have 10 other grandchildren, ranging in ages 18 months to 15years old.  Those grandbabies are the Best thing our kids ever did.

We started Nexstage so we could have some control--typical type A personalities I guess.   We're hoping to be able to do some traveling again.
Anyone take their unit on a cruise?

Wow!!! You've had to become very resilient, and I am impressed that you started nxstage so quickly!  There are posts out there about going on a cruise with the machine, perhaps someone can point you to them. If not, try the search option! Oh, and WELCOME!!!! :welcomesign;

Welcome aboard!  Have some fun and read the boards! There is a lot of information around here.
There is an entire section devoted to NXStage.

 :welcomesign; I've been on dialysis almost seven months, and I also started NxStage about four months into dialysis. I wanted sooooooo bad to be able to do some kind of self-care in the centre I was in, but I was unable to. So, I just said goodby to that centre and hello to NxStage (when it finally became available). I hope you enjoy IHD.

And hello to your wife too, from another caretaker (I hate that word, we need a better one) - so glad to hear you're doing well, despite dialysis! Welcome to IHD!

 :welcomesign; dave.  Great that you are on home dialysis!!  Hubby has been on dialysis for 10 years. Started with pd. That worked for about 2.5 years. had an awful experience with it.  Then he did in center hemo for 6 years.  Started nocturnal home hemo last Oct and that has been the best. No travel and you are in control.  God luck!!
