Wade and I.

« on: August 06, 2007, 03:27:47 PM »

Well, today was day one of training - and holy eff'n s$!t! Its AMAZING. I have never seen Wade be so "pink" and happy/hyper when he gets off dialysis before! He was alert, happy, and excited the entire time - and we both picked up on everything really fast! We are over the moon. In fact, Wade was so excited to get going, he signed a big stack of releases without looking at them - and signed some that he shouldnt - he was just tooooooo excited!

His training nurse is wonderful, and shes from Long Island (just like me!) so we're getting along swimmingly. In very, very exciting news ... Wade's primary is the director of the center, on the RAI board of directors, and the head of nephrology at MCV - a HUGE hospital here in Richmond. His doctor is very ctting-edge, and he is always doing tests and studies. We found out that his doctor is getting a NOCTURNAL NXSTAGE that the teaching nurses will train on in September, and they will be needing patients to get on it soon after. His clinic will be the first in the country to get it (because of his awesome doctor) and Wade has already volunteered to be a "gerbil" and go first! SO EXCITING!

Anyway, it was a great day, and we are excited for tomorrow!

Girlfriend of Wade, on dialysis since 5/11/07 and NxStage since 8/20/07. We're hoping for a transplant as soon as his "FGP" is gone!
