It's horrible and now burning into a VERY populated area, only 7-8 blocks away from the lake.   I spoke to the people that own the lakefront home we usually rent every 4th of July week and they said the neighborhood was evacuated yesterday.

i grew up in the san francisco bay area and am very familiar with lake tahoe area. it makes me sick

I have visited Lake Tahoe a couple of times. It hurts to know that beautiful area is going up in smoke and ashes. I pray everyone is okay in the area.

This is why logging should be allowed to clear out some areas so this doesn't happen.  Loggers are very good stewards of the land and as with any crop there is harvest time.  Log it or lose it.

Have you seen the local coverage with the forest service trying to spin that landowners are allowed to clear their property and most just don't understand the rules?  It's such BS.  I have friends and family with land around Tahoe and it takes a flipping act of congress to remove even a dead tree.  The forest is so thick, it was a matter of time before this happened.
