My fathers birthday is July 4th. Every year we do the same thing for him. Each of his children [there are 6 of us] bring something for him to eat. He has many favorite foods so it's not hard. I bought clams. My sisters and brothers bought steaks.vegtables, and shrimp. But the one thing we did different is hire a barber shop quartet to sing for him. He loves that music. Every year he and my two brothers go to see them sing and then they go to dinner. I am always invited but i never got into that kind of music. However when we were all done eating it wasn't long and my brother announced, "Hey Dad, here is something you will love for your birthday" we were all outside and in came a quartet of gentlemen dressed in blue shirts and white pants. The first song they sang was happy birthday. They then went into several songs that my dad knew every word to. We were all smiling because we will never forget the look on my dads face. He couldn't stop smiling. They told little stories that made him laugh. When they were done they stayed and talked with him for awhile. I don't know how many more birthdays he will be with us. I know i made him happy when i said i would go with them next year. It was a birthday he will never forget.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

Wow!  Just hearing about that made me feel good!  And I do love barbershop quartets.  I am off to Youtube to see if anyone has a group there singing.  You whet my appetite!
