We feed the cats that come around. We don't know where they come from, but we feed them anyway. A big gray cat "Smokey' was apparently injured today. When Ran brought
food out to him, and petted him, he saw an awful gash on the inside of his leg. A very deep one. He called the closest vet, and is taking him there tonight. Right now he's looking for a box
and a blanket for the cat. Poor thing.

Good news! Ran just contacted me. Smoke is fine, he'll need to have the wound cleaned out, it's infected, and stitched up, so he'll be there a day or so. They're also going to neuter him, and give him his shots.  Granulated infection? Has anyone heard of that?

Here's the funny thing. Ran always talks about how he just hates cats. But, he's the one
who buys the cat food, makes sure they have it, and there was no doubt in his mind that Smoke was going to the vet. Bless his heart, he was so concerned that the vet might
suggest putting him down. He knew that would upset me so.

Ran is one in a million. I am so fortunate to have such a man as him love me.

Thank you GoofyNina and Fluff oh, sorry Sluff, I do appreciate the kind words.
I have a concern for the underdog, and am very protective towards them.
Whatever I can do, I will.  You haven't seen me around cows yet...
I talk to them. I told Ran I want a calf as a pet. He knows I am serious.
I like cows. I like the way the smell. I like the way they feel, I like the way they
look at you with their calm, placid eyes.

It's so nice of you to take care of him like that.   :cuddle;  Make sure the vet is doing a Leukemia/AIDS test on the kitty.

Smokey is a smart cat! He knows which are the "good" humans  ;D

I have a cartoon on my desk at work that says "One cat tells another and whammo -- you have a lot of cats!" I think there's some truth to this. They must have some sort of secret underground communication thing going. "pssst. I know this house where they feed the GOOD stuff and have a cat door so you can come and go at will and find a nice fluffy chair to sleep on when it's raining and cold out."

Gentle scritches for Smokey. His poor leg must hurt! I imagine he'll be on antibiotics for a while -- since it sounds like he doesn't live with you full time, will you be able to keep track of him to get the pills down him?

A cow!  You want a cow???  Oh my you are an animal lover.  Let me tell you we had a cow when I was a kid. We also raised pigs,      rabbits and chickens.  Over all of them I prefer the pigs.  They were friendly and intelligent and loved a gentle back scratch.  Besides they loved you whenever you showed up with food.  Yes, my father thought he was old McDonald on a farm.

I am an animal lover! I tell Ran the perfect job would be as a kennel assistant,
all the animals I can work (and talk to!) with!  Ran's former neighbor had cows.
And sheep. Talk about greedy and stupid! I would feed the sheep bread, and
they would literally be climbing over each other. Silly sheep. They had chickens
too. We tried to rescue some from the roosters. Until the chickens got obnoxious.
Now, I haven't been around pigs, much, I must admit. From what I know, they
are awfully smart!

I remember my Mom had these ducks that we had in our back yard when I was a kid. I was chased by said ducks.  My sister and I were terrified to go in the back yard because of the ducks.  Mom finally took the ducks to the pond by Knott's and let them go.
I have also been chased by a very angry rooster in the hen house.  We would have to fight the rooster to feed and water and collect eggs from the chickens.  I am not too fond of birds because of these experiences!

That's such a sweet story... and even funnier that Ran feeds them and looks after them and claims to not like cats.. either he's telling porky's or they've trained him up real well! :)

I was just getting smooches from my little lady this morning and thinking about how I might have to cut out the cat licks and kisses and stuff if/when I get a transplant... that made me a little unhappy, specially if for a while I might have to lock her out of the bedroom, because she might not understand that it's not that I don't love her anymore, but because I need to be extra careful!! So i gave her an extra big cuddle!!

awww ty Goofy.. that is very sweet... I know she will love me no matter what, and I her... At least it seems she can stay with me! :)

And hopefully WHEN I get that transplant she will see me much happier and active and able to drink again!!! So that might cheer her up too :) Sometimes I almost get the feeling when she sits on my lap when I am not feeling so good that she looks at me and the look is almost "you know if one of my little kitty kidneys would help you.. I'd give it to you" and that's when i give her a extra cuddle and kiss...

Awww. Richard, that is why I like animals. They know when there is something wrong, and they
want to stay with you, to both comfort and protect you. You are very fortunate to have such
a sweetheart!

MyssAnne, how kind and thoughtful to look out for our feline friends.  That is so great!
I took in 2 that were left in a cornfield and one swallowed a dime and cost me $$$.
Hope he never pulls that again.
RichardMel, I have enjoyed reading about your cat and how precious she is to you.

I am so sorry! I forgot to give you guys an update!
Smoke is happy now, we are letting him in the house,
feeding him, petting him, and in general spoiling him
silly! He is still going outside for the most part, and in
the evening, but when I am there, he really wants to
be in the house, with me! He is such a lovebug!  His
injury, we're still not sure how he got it, is healing
nicely. You can see where it's pulling on his muscle,
making it a little stiff for him, it's just a little harder for hime
to jump up on chairs/couches, etc.

Thank you Maisha! We've even changed his name, to Cosmo, we shorten it to Coz, he is very free in the house now! In fact, when I go upstairs to take a nap, he runs up there with me!  His son showed up about a month ago, beautiful black cat, looks just like him! We feed him, of course! He's not as tamed as Coz is, but he really enjoys being with his pop! So all is well and happy there!

Oh my Lord and wait to meet the whole family! hahaah cats are adorable, so glad you are able to give them shelter and love, so how many cats do you have now?  I have tried to bring cats but my dogs are so selfish so i better avoid the idea.  I need to trim my all dogs and believe me is a hard job... are your cats or those visitor ones happy during shower time or how do they react?
