Ok, so since I am in Seattle and not currently in Cali, I don't have all my other doctor's besides my nephrologist and transplant team here. I need to make a gyno appt. and every recommendation I keep getting from my transplant team doctors are to facilities that ALL the female gyno's are either not taking new patients or booked until a few months from now! I've only had female ob-gyn's thus far and so that's all I am familiar with. So now I'm faced with deciding on if I want to have a male ob-gyn or just keep searching (I'm losing patience...). So, I was wondering what everyone's preference was and why?

I prefer either female or an older male (like 50+).  I could NOT see some hot young man.

My ob/gyn is young and hot,lol, but very nice and friendly too so I am comfortable with him.I have never had a female ob/gyn.

Hmm I didn't even think about the young and hot possibility. There might be an upside to seeing an ob-gyn after all!  :angel;

Female only.  I like talking to her about things and I couldn't see me talking to a man about them!  I love my GYN, I have been with her for 15 years.  Rob's cousins and my best friend's cousin go to her also.....too funny.  Plus, I love that once you hit 35 she has you get a mammogram.  I think it's great.

My sisters are the same way, woman only.  My BF will only see a man.

I couldn't imagine a hot young doctor working on my coochie, I would be mortified!  ::)

I personally prefer a female ob/gyn......I can only talk to women about those matters.....as far as other doctors of mine, I also prefer if they are men that they be >50 or even >55......

Roxy, you may want to think about the young and hot possibility......lol.....

All of my Dr.'s are the type that just immediately put you at ease and I feel fortunate  for that.I have had a few that really p*** me off and act holier than thou, and think they know everything.You cannot talk with that kind at all!!

Kaiser has been pretty much catch as catch can in the OB-GYN Department. You take what appointment you can get for regular check ups.

Well I guess I could get use to the idea of having a male ob-gyn. It's going to be a man that's taking out the stent that they put in during the transplant and I have no choice in that matter; and he's going to cause me more pain than an ob-gyn could. So, I gues I'll be somewhat more comfortable with it after that.

Men seems to hurt you more- Women seem at least to try not to hurt you. The last man I saw warmed his instuments in a warmer- that was nice. ;D

Kaiser is like that for my healthy friends.  They tend to get whatever NP is available, not even a doctor.  I get to see the same doctor though, due to my diabetes/kidney/autoimmune issues.  I'm surprised they haven't done the same for you.

I've always had a female OB/GYN.

  :rofl; Goofynina you crack me up.
Glitter, see that's what I was wondering; but I was also thinking that maybe men would try to be more careful since they have no idea what it feels like and they would be scared of hurting someone. Especially since it seems like overall women ob-gyn's are more popular, because every office i've called all the men are available and women are booked like crazy.

Never made any difference to me. I took the first available for my next appointment.  I'm over being modest about that stuff, at least with the doctors.

I do female ob/gyn. Males have NO point of reference when you start talking cramping. Or anything else 'female'!!!!
