I love gardening, flowers, houseplants, veggies, trees, you name it! It's the one thing in life that  I enjoy more than anything, as far as hobbies go.My hubby bought and planted 12 Daylilies for me for our anniversary this year. When we moved from Indiana to Virginia last year, I had to leave most of my plant's and flower's there. The house we moved to had nothing in the yard hardly !  It does have a wondeful Walnut tree and a great patch of Blackberries that I am looking forward to feasting on,lol ! My hubby also planted a Peach tree, a Mimosa Tree, a Hydrangea bush and lot's of beautiful perennial's this yeqr.Got more thing's lanned for next year.Oh, also a Blueberry bush.I take care of the annual's and have planted a lot of container gardens for the front and back porch.Sopme fave's are Coleus,Gerbera Daisy, Japanese Morning  Glories, and Petunia's, but really I like them all!!! Another part of my gardening hobby is I trade seed's.I have traded with people all over the world and that is a very satisfying part of my hobby. As for houseplant's, I have recently gotten into Orchid's and I am going to try my hand at them.I'll need all the luck I can get with them.lol !   I also love to read and good large print book's are hard to find, but I have found a few good one's.Love to read horror and science fiction.

Unfortunately gardening is not my strong point.  I am currently raising a great bunch of weeds in my front yard! I, or rather my cats, have managed to eat or destroy every house plant I have ever owned. The black thumb of gardening has descended over here.

I love gardening and have since I was young. At my Mum and Dad's house I had my own rose garden. Havent really started knowing what to do where we are at the moment, I have planted a few roses and also a cherry blossom tree. But what I love most about the garden where we live is there is an Oak Tree that Allan's dad planted when he first bought the place in
approx 1948, so its a feature and has a special sentimental spot in our hearts.

The property we live on is a former gravel pit.  We do a yearly battle with trying to grow some trees.  Digging up the rocks to plant flowers takes more energy than I have to spare!  I have done a bit of container gardening here, but not this year.

Del ,I bet is quite a challenge there, we didn't have a bad winter at all and we have a fairly long growing season , so we can grow anything except no tropicals and we don't have a enclosed patio, so I have to grow some things in the windowsill. I do alot of container  growing, I've got windowboxes in the windows to, which I really love.Kitkatz,do you plant catnip  for your kitty's? Maybe they would chew on that instead of your flower's,lol!

I usually plant my annuals in the summer.  I do have lovely tulips, azaleas and a large rhododendron bush.  I have just started growing tomatoes and peppers.  Nothing on the tomatoes yet (hurry up already!) but I do have 2 peppers growing.

Any hints on growing tomatoes??

unless the variety you planted is "early girl" you still have a month or so before you get tometoes. be sure you get a tomato cage or stake up the plants, because they will get huge and you don't want them to completely fall over. when the blossoms first appear pinch them off, this will cause more to grow and you will get more tomatoes. enjoy!!!

Goofynina that ice is usually only here for a little while in the spring and some years we don't get it. It is ice from further north traveling south on the currents  It eventualy melts when the wter temp is high enough. The past couple of days it has been really hot and humid here.  We are in zone 5 or 6 for gardenng so you can grow lots of things. I grow tomatoes and peppers outside - no green house.  We grow carrots, beet, turnip, pumpkins , potatoes.  Broccoli, cauliflower and things like that grow here too.  It has been about 85-90 Fahenheit here the past couple of days. I want to do some garening but it is too hot. On the front of our house where the sun is shing the thermometer says 98 F  (37C)  Only drops down to about 50 overnight.  Still risk of frot here until about the 3rd week in June.  I never put annuals out until then.  I grow dafidols, tulips,  and loads of different flowers and bushes. We have apple, pear and cherry trees.

I like container gardening the most myself as far as veggies go.They are just more convenient .I only grow the Red Cherry and the Yellow Pear tomatoes as far as tomatoes go, as they are my fave's.I also grow bush container cucumber's and zuke's.Lettuce's do well also and this year I tried a Gourmet Micro Mix.Already harvested some of those and they were delicious, with a little oil andvineagar and some store bought cauliflower, and a few hot bacon bit's.
