I haven't been on this forum in (checking logs) six years!  You may recall I wasn't yet ready for dialysis but had a transplant evaluation in which I was determined to be ineligible (history and future risk of skin cancer). Anyway, I've managed to put off dialysis for a long time - my nephrologist even commented how surprisingly long I've lasted, hovering between 10-15 eGFR.

Unfortunately, after a potassium spike and labs getting worse, he's now strongly recommending I start dialysis, even tho he'd previously advocated for going as long as I can until symptoms became unmanageable. I'm putting it off for just a little while longer, as I'm in the middle of trying to move house, but I thought I'd come here and reacquaint myself with this forum and all of the wonderful people here.

I'm interested in solo home hemo, so I'll be checking out the Home Hemo and NxStage boards for info and inspiration.

Transplant July 2017 from out of state deceased donor, waited three weeks the creatine to fall into expected range, dialysis December 2013 - July 2017.

Well done!!! You have given it your all and the result of trying so hard to stay pre-dialysis for so long is very impressive indeed !!! Congratulations!
I wish you the best of luck and there is no doubt that you'll manage dialysis as well as you have done staying pre-dialysis for so long!

P.S. I went to a dialysis-centre and was very lucky to have no serious medical problems with my Tessio-line and adding to that, I had only one chest-Tessio-lead through all the time and it went well for almost exactly four years until my kidney transplant "came along". But I must point out that with a Tessio-line one has to be very careful that not a drop of water (or any other liquid) ever comes near the Tessio-line, which means no bath, no shower around the chest, only a very careful "washing with a flannel" around the chest-area... and ... whatever you are going to decide, I wish you the best of luck! :grouphug;
