Needing Help, can’t handle this being alone, only 34

Hey y’all, I’m Harrison. I’m 34 and have been on dialysis since age 29. I have been on the list since 2016 when I came to Florida to live with mom in order to ease the burden of all this.. my mom passed this year and things turned really tough. She was my best help and I’m struggling all alone in this now. I’m about to be evicted, I’m hungry and my meds are behind and I need transportation everywhere. I hate this life. I just want to act my age and live like normal. I have no idea what todo aside from put away my pride and beg for help.. I need to, I have no idea how to survive other than that. Anything I can get help with is a blessing and is a great help. Thank y’all for reading this and I know you’re dealing also but I don’t know many with worse situations. Thanks again.

I am very sorry for how you feel right now and it is very sad that your mom is no longer visibly with you, especially since she was your best help and I am very sorry that you are struggling so badly.

You say that you are about to be evicted, hungry and there are troubles with your meds as well and you need transportation everywhere.

It sounds, as if "things" have been building up over the past few months and I wonder whether you can have a word with your favourite dialysis-nurse and/or your nephrologist and/or your general doctor?

Please don't think about whom to ask for too long because you urgently need help !
And please explain your current situation to them and please ask them for help to put you into the right direction for help. Your asking these medical professionals for some help has nothing to do with putting away your pride, because everyone understands that you need help to sort this out and you need help to get again on the "right track" and it is pretty obvious that you need help a.s.a.p. without any delay.
Please ask these professionals and please don't even entertain the idea about "pride" etc. Your dignity won't be hurt if you get some help to sort yourself out to get into better shape and it is well known among medical professionals, that "things" with dialysis are hard enough anyway! And don't forget, you need to eat regularly in order to get fit enough for your transplant!

Hi Harrison,

I'm truly sorry to learn of your mom's passing: I can imagine how lonesome and hopeless feelings may be your close companions right now and I wish I could say that it'll get better, but all I can say is that this too shall pass.

If eviction is right around the corner, shelter is #1, followed by food. Usually, there are social workers at dialysis clinics who know a thing or two about local Missions or Half-way houses where you can land on your feet and regroup. Hi Kristina, your answer had some spelling mistakes in, which I corrected, hence SP and Mod Cas is just me. I don’t remember exactly which minor spelling mistakes there were, as I correct spelling mistakes a lot.

I don't know about Florida but here in Missouri there are at least three different transportation companies that provide services for medically dependent people like us.

Your State Social Services should have the names and numbers of contacts  in your State.

Social Services should also be able to help you with assistance with rent, utilities, food, and/or referrals to other agencies that can help.

Pride be damned, you have to have help, you cannot continue to take on the world alone.
