I've discovered the joy of listening to "Podcasts".  I'd heard about them but never searched how to get them or anything.  I have the app iheartradio on my phone and I saw them there.  There are like 20,000 of them.  So a nurse told me I had to listen tho the podcast.... "Doctor Death".  Oh, Gosh!  I was riveted!  They are broken up into like 35 minute segments. 
Doctor Death is a true story of a neurosurgeon who is killing people and maiming people and the Hospitals just keep pushing him off to the next because they don't want to take on a "doctor".  Plus, I learned to look into who will be cutting on you before you EVER give the okay.

Dirty John is a true story about this guy who dates women off the internet.  He is a total con artist.  Says he is a Surgical Anesthesiologist.  The more you hear the more you realize how dumb this very rich woman is.  Someone dies... but I won't say who.

Any suggestions from you??

 

Now I'm listening to Imagined Life.  It is true stories of different people and they don't tell you who it is until the end.  I've guessed three of them.

Is this Dr Death based on facts?

Before the advent of TV there were so many great Radio shows.  You might remember the very first broadcast of HG Wells War of the Worlds and the panic that came from it as so many people failed to note that it was a fictional program.

I had to laugh the other day as I came across a meme about phones.

Wouldn't it be nice if you had a phone app that you could TALK into, and the other person could LISTEN, and TALK Back?

I don't listen to podcasts much but when I do I always add Planet Money from NPR: https://www.npr.org/sections/money/  in this case its the same content you can find on your NPR station.  I also added StoryCorps https://storycorps.org/listen/ which again is on NPR but I think you might get more content via the podcast.

Other modern podcasts sound more like investigative journalism or documentary story telling. 

Honestly I've not really been interested in podcasts on a long-term basis because I grew up with the radio (NPR) on all the time and I really like piece and quiet instead.  I like listing to NPR the few times I drive the car but I don't need to have sound on all the time.  I didn't really listen to music that much until I started dialysis, since then I do listen to it but its just more as a white noise mostly to let me focus on other things like what I'm reading or my work on my computer.

Tinnitus?  It isn't in my ears, it is about an inch or so above my ears.  Constant puling rushing wooshing noise that drives me absolutely NUTS.

I like to leave the TV/Radio on and turned half way up so to cover that noise.

I may not be paying a lot of attention to it as I could be reading a book or my Laptop, or watching You Tube.

But it helps.  And I do find that I absorb at least part of what was broadcast.

Hours in that chair I learn a lot of unrelated 'stuff'.

No Such Thing As A Fish

It is an add on to a British TV show (QI) that you don't get in America for copyright reasons, hopefully you can get the podcast.

Basically it is just the show's researchers discussing strange facts that they have found while researching for the main show (such as the fact that technically there is no such "classification" as "fish"). It is really funny and may make you want to move to England to see the show (probably not necessary, Amazon will happily import American DVDs into England if you pay the postage and import duty - regardless of copyright, your Amazon will probably do the same in reverse if you know how to ask - which is: Log into your Amazon account, go to the Amazon site of a country that sells the DVD, then order via that site through your own site).

I'm just glad that BBC radio keeps podcasts of all their shows for a full month after airing. I mostly listen to BBC6.

Family Secrets is a good Podcast.  With all the DNA testing going on there are plenty of old family secrets surfacing.  WOW  Not sure I want to do 23 and ME...... 

Breaking Hearts  is a sad story of the two Moms that adopted 6 kids and then drove them off the cliff in California.  Ugh

Red Pilled America are weekly current events.  Really makes you think.

Mobituaries   Mo Rocca (ABC) talks about people who are no longer with us.  Their life story like Sammy Davis Jr.

Monsters  About the Zodiac Killer  I could not listen to it.  I live alone!  I'm a chicken.
