Whoever said "God does not make mistakes" has obviously never seen the complete bog up he made of my kidneys!

Hi Northfox!

Welcome to IHD!  We are always glad to have a new member join us.

Can I ask what led you to our site and how long have you been struggling with your kidneys before starting PD?

I started PD before I became 'kidney sick'.  My kidneys were still about 20% function but my legs had been soo swollen fat that they had been leaking most of the day, soaking my socks and shoes, creating those huge sores on my shins that kept getting infected no matter how well I cleaned and bandaged them, landing my bottom in the hospital up to 2 weeks at a time.

PD removed all of that water within the first week.  My legs haven't been leaking, or swollen since.  AMAZING improvement!

Stay extremely careful making every connection as I failed after 3 1/2 years, ended up with an infection that caused my cath to be removed and switched to Hemo.  Don't make my same mistake.

Take Care,

Welcome.   If PD fails for you, there is life with hemo, but PD is a far better lifestyle.   Be more paranoid about germs that both Howards (Hughes and Mandel) combined, and I wish you the best of luck.
