:)    What American accent do you have?

to find out go to: http://gotoquiz.com/what_american_accent_do_you_have

Here's my results:
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

By the way, I am a second generation Californian.

:rofl; :rofl; :rofl; My Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

It says I'm Midland, but in reality I pick up dialect from just about every place I've been.  Overall more Southern though.   :)

It has only been in recent times that I realised people in different parts of Australia actually have minor differences in accents.

E.g. here in South Australia they say "plant" as "plahnt". I grew up in Victoria, so this really bugs me.  :D

Also, in New South Wales they seem to say "beer" as "beeeer" which is probably more accurate. I tend to say "bee-ahr".

The West

"Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta."

Midland. Must have been the years living in the south changed the accent.

Inland North.  Weird, since I'm from southern Virginia and think I have a Southern accent.  My daughter says that when I'm on the phone with my mother, I get very Southern, revert to "y'all", etc.

ok now, keep in mind I'm Canadian, but I watch WAY too much Oprah and every once in a while I come out with some kind of American accent. Sometimes it's like a Georgia accent or maybe a Carolina accent ('cause I like the way they sound), other times it's just plain American. By that I mean I'll say something like "y'all" or "uh-huh" with a southern twist. SO not Canadian!

Can you imagine?  This 100% caribbean woman goes and does that accent quiz and I am labeled "North East"!!!!!!
"Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak."
Well the British Virgin Islands are in the North East Caribbean.  But I don't even have their accent.  Barbados is South Eastern Caribbean.
Oh well.......
