'fenestra' is the Latin for 'window'  as 'fenêtre' in French

My younger son kept calling his friends "emo" so I had to ask what it meant.

He says it means an emotional person.

According the the Urban Slang dictionary it means:
Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.

... whatever

Emo around these parts is someone who cuts themselves for attention.

In the teenage slang of today you will find that there are a whole range of people you never knew existed.  Yes there are emo people, but also add preps, skaters, gang bangers, and druggies.   If you care to move further west to the Hawaiian Islands you can add mokes and tittas.

Those are just the ones I can remember from casual conversation around the house.

Would anyone care to add to this?

In London if something is cool and you really like it you say:

"That's SICK man!"

Don't ask me why!

One I've heard lately - "You've been plutoed."

plutoed - verb - see "kicked off the island"
