Kidney Fog description

I write Sci-Fi mostly for my own enjoyment. My latest book has allowed me to explore my own disease through the main character. One scene tries to show what "kidney fog" is like by using colors. It is an important scene and I am considering revising it. I would appreciate your thoughts and how you would best describe the feeling. Floyd has just been bitten and injected with an LSD like toxin and is visualizing his prior experiences.

...but then grayness seemed to develop. The colors faded as the grayness became more complete and the image of him sitting in the dialysis chair would not go away. His mind was clouded by the kidney fog he had hated so much.
The colors returned but much dimmer and he had an image of himself at home hooking up to the dialysis machine. He longed for the bright colors but the dimness just continued. The meeting with the Admiral was followed by more tears as he said goodbye to his family. The image of his wife's grave brought on even more tears and was followed by blackness. The blackness went on for some time and then shimmerings of color began to appear. The next real image was of him trimming his hair and beard on the space ship. The colors came back in their brilliance and he was again floating in bands of color.
