We have a new Nurse at our center.  She's been here about a month now I guess.  I don't know from whence she came; but I wish she would go back!!!!!   :sarcasm;

She is very hard to understand; she is from the Dominican Republic; and has a very HEAVY "Spanish" accent.  We had a visitor come in the other day; and he couldn't understand anything she was telling him!  She wound up sending him to a center to get his Access cleaned out; because the Tech couldn't stick him; she told him, he was filled with clots.  Turns out the DR did the procedure and an ultrasound on him; and said he was fine!  Next day; a different Tech w/ many years experience tried to canulate him; and BAM...no problems.

Wednesday; she was making rounds with one of the DR's.  We have one patient; who has just started doing "buttonholes" and is very excited.  The DR was explaining how to use a sponge ball; to keep the access strong.  The DR walked away to use his phone; and the Nurse in question; told her not to worry about using the ball, it didn't work anyway.  She told her that if she has issues, to go get her Access cleaned out' that would solve all her problems.

The patient was asking her about the procedure; and they did it...and she told her that they use the same holes as the button hole; so there is no additional "cutting" by the Surgeon.  Then they put the balloon in the access and "blow it up" and stretch it out.  I don't know about you; but that is NOT how they do it where I go; and I wonder why this Nurse is contradicting the DR's orders.....

She needs fired.  I don't think she will last long.  Let her hang herself but watch out for your own health.

If you can, try to learn how to cannula te yourself and create a buttonhole or have a trusted knowledgeable nurse/ technician create it for you.  This will give you so much peace of mind by not having to rely on someone like. Her to cantu late you.   Also, if you are not doing this already, keep an eye out on your machine to monitor the arterial and Venus pressures as well as the UF.     You can also speak to the charge nurse about having the technicians who you trust cannula te you till you learn how to do it yourself.    This will make for an easy transition if you decide to switch to Homehemo

This women is dangerous, this life style is deadly enough with a team of knowledgeable professionals providing our care. Through in a rogue member who is going to undercut the doctor and you have a recipe for disaster.  If it was me I would speak to the manager and ask that she has nothing to do with my care.
