I know that the ingestion of grapefruit and grapefruit juice is a big no-no with transplant medications. What about external applications, though? Does it matter?

I won a big cosmetics and skin care gift basket. There are three facial masks infused with grapefruit extract. It seems like nothing, on top of the skin, but you know, always best to second guess. Citrus paradisi extract (grapefruit) is the ninth ingredient on the list, so, not really a main component, although it is labeled as a grapefruit infusion therapy.

In your humble opinions, would I be safe and should I go plaster my face?

Hello UKrainian Tracksuit,
This is a difficult question to answer, especially since we don't really know what "seeps" through the skin into our system!
Perhaps it would not be such a good idea to use grapefruit on the skin since it is a no-no to eat grapefruit with transplant medication and because of that I personally would not entertain the idea to use it on my skin either.
For many years I have used once every week a "Manuka Honey Peel-Off Mask" to clean my skin thoroughly and it has worked well so far, especially since my dialysis-unit is air-conditioned and my skin does not like air-conditioning, but with my weekly "Manuka Honey Peel-Off Mask" my skin is able to tolerate the air-conditioning a little better.
Good luck wishes from Kristina. :grouphug;

I'd regift the three facial masks and then ask my husband for a gift certificate to Sephora as a Christmas present!  Then you could go and select any masks you'd like!   :2thumbsup;

I agree with Kristina and MM. If Cortison cream used for excema on your leg can make your face swollen and make you feel hungry.......

Thanks for replies! Best not to take a chance and give them away. You guys are probably right. And good thinking MM! And if he gives a gift certificate, he’s off the hook for watching me be indecisive over eyeshadows!  :cheer:
