My partner and I in Bali, Indonesia

« on: September 23, 2014, 02:21:50 PM »

I have just joined a few days ago and have figured out that a small biography is posted  here to tell my story.  First off I am now 56 years male and hopefully climbing.  I personally feel I am, but have just come through a triple heart bypass and started Dialysis just before this.  I have HIV as well which has been for over 30 years now.   I had given up on trying to stay thin when I found out about HIV and gained a lot of weight and stopped my excessive compulsive exercising.  I finally was so tired of the weight I went to a weight clinic and lost 100lbs, got back to the gym but am still overweight and now again without exercise.  I started an HIV med about 4 years ago which is believed to be the source of my Kidney damage, but who knows, it just is what it is.

Well today and for the last 4 months I am in Home-Hemo training and am learning a lot.  I should be coming home to do it here soon, but I find it all very overwhelming at times and It is also really hard on my partner of 25 years.  The picture above is of myself an Orangutan and him, I am on the left.

I have a few other health issues, but this is more than enough for now, just wanted you to know who I am.  Ted

Hi Ted, and welcome to IHD.  I'm glad you found us.  Lots to read here.  Just do it a little a time so you don't get overwhelmed.

See you on the board.

Welcome, Ted in Toronto! Terrific bio! Sounds like you've been thru a lot but willing to keep on keeping on, that's good! Home-hemo can be hard, time consuming, scary and stressful BUT...it is also very rewarding. All depends on how you look at it...from day to day. I am learning to take one good day at a time and make it last til the next. Read the threads and you will see. There is always someone here to answer questions or to look to for support.

Welcome.  Which machine are you getting for home hemo?   How is the Canadian health care system treating you, eh?

:waving;  Hi Ted, welcome to IHD!

Thanks for telling us about yourself. I imagine training for home hemo would be pretty overwhelming, there's a lot of information to process in a short amount of time. Hang in there, many of our members do home hemo, and will be happy to help if you have questions.
