10 years on and off dialysis

« on: May 19, 2014, 09:03:18 AM »

I don't seem able to tolerate fizzy drinks anymore, which is a real shame because I love diet coke and lilt and suchlike...
Does anyone else have this problem or the answer to why?
It makes me bloat like mad/stomach ache even a bit sick until I can finally get rid of the gas... (sometimes 2-3 days)
Am I allergic to carbon dioxide??? (It doesn't happen when I drink champagne though  :o)

I used to drink a diet coke everyday. I gave it up 5 or so years ago because of the phosphorus (kept me off binders for a few years). After my transplant any sort of soda would trigger some vomiting. So now I just stick to water, tea, and juice. I assumed it was a side effect from the transplant that I went through. Sorry I don't have a better answer :(
