Hi All... Today, I had to phone the Department of Social Protection this morning, and forfeit my Carers Allowance payment... This payment stops being payable if the person being cared for is in a hospital or Nursing Home for thirteen weeks... Mum is in hospital for thirteen weeks today, so I had to make the call.... Besides the fact that my income has dropped by a third, and the household income is down by more than 60% (Most of Mum's pension goes for her care after thirteen weeks), it's the feeling of losing my caring status that hits harder... Didn't help when a genius said to me 'Well, you're now free of that burden!'... What I didn't say to him wasn't worth saying, and what I did tell him to do is not repeatable on a family forum!.... Had a meeting with the Social Worker today... We're doing the paperwork for her transfer to a nursing home... I HATE this!... Mum is heartbroken, and I can't do anything about it!...Life's a b***h sometimes, and right now, she has puppies!.... Love to all...Darth....
