I'm on the Transplant list however, My BMI is over what the Surgeon will allow. I have had weight issues my entire life & need to get my BMI down so I don't get put on hold or bumped off the Transplant List.  I'm considering getting the Lap Band procedure done.  I just wanted to know if anyone has had it done & what the results were.  Also, I would like to know if it effected your dialysis treatments.  Any information would be helpful.  Thanks Dr. Larry

I have seen amazing results from bariatric surgery. I had one patient who was huge , lose over 150 pounds and no longer is diabetic.  I have a current transplant patient who is planning a bariatric surgery in a month.
It may effect some of your dialysis prescription parameters after but that should actually make it easier on you.
