My husband has been a dialysis patient on NxStage since May. We went through two months of training. He is very frustrated with the machine. After three months, he's thinking of going back to in-center because of the alarms that keep going off while he is on the machine dialyzing. He has a catheter, and we keep getting red 11 and red 21 alarms. Last night it happened automatically every hour, no matter which way he layed in the bed. We go to his doctor today, and will mention this, to see if we need to get a new machine. I put him on the machine after I get home from work and he does it 5 times a week for 4 hours.
Hellooo, moodyc, and welcome!I'm very sorry to hear about your husband's frustrations.Hmm... I'm actually becoming quite concerned with the number of people who are not considering or who are not informed about the Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) option. Please read my comment on this post (look for the comment from Vitality): http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=29683.0. Please learn more about PD here: http://www.davita.com/treatment-options/home-peritoneal-dialysis/what-is-peritoneal-disease-/a-brief-overview-of-peritoneal-dialysis/t/5483I wish you and your husband the best, moodyc, and I hope the problems are resolved soon.
