I received my last transplant on July 29, 1998.  Sometime in Spring of 2000 John (hubby) had to work the weekend.  John had filled my gas tank up for the night before in case I wanted to go somewhere.  So, I decided Saturday evening that I was gonna go to Kent (in WA) and visit my dad.  My dad never had anything to drink but water so, I decided to go passed his turn and take a side road up to the store.  This a two lane road with a ditch on each side.  Just as I turned onto the road my car died!  I put it in park and attempted to start it but it just kept turning over and over and wouldn't start.  So, I put my flashers on and called my dad to come push me in the nearby church parking lot.  Then I paged John.  He called me back and I said, "My fuel pump went out!"  And asks, "Well, are you sure you gas?"  To which my response as a very sarcastic, "No, I went to Canada and back while you were at work!"  He said, "What?"  I shouted, "You filled it up for me last night!"  Then my dad comes and asks me the same thing then tells me try and start it.  Afterward he says sarcastically, "Hey, I think your fuel pump went out!"   :banghead;

By the time were able to get back over there to have my car towed home my dad had told me that someone egged it and he had cleaned it off!  I couldn't be mad because my friends and I did the same thing when were young.  What goes around comes around, right?  lol

It was the fuel pump too!

John always does that to me.  Other things that broke on that car that knew what they were are wheel bearings and the starter!  How did I know?  Well, my mom had a car that broke down constantly when I was growing up.  She'd have my uncle come fix it and I was always right there watching and listening to what he said was the problem.  Yep, I was just a very observant kid/teen!

What is it about having a Y chromosome that makes them think they are all experts on cars?

With my first car, I kept telling my dad the starter was going.  It wasn't starting right, and the sound was off.  He took it for a drive and told me I was hearing things.  So I headed back to the last week of school, took my final exams, and headed home.  It died at a rest stop halfway home, packed to the roof with pretty much everything I owned.  His bright idea was to have someone come get me until he could drive down and fix it.  I refused.  The overload of stuff was like a giant flashing "Steal Me" sign.   A trucker managed to jump start it for me and told me not to shut it off no matter what.  I coasted into the driveway at home on gas fumes. since I didn't dare stop for gas.
It was the starter, of course.... ::)

Oh yeah, that was the next thing that went out in that car too!  And when I told John, he said well how do you know?  I said, because it goes click, click, click and then it starts!  Duh!

Then it was a wheel bearing but whenever John would drive it he wouldn't hear the whine!  I finally told him we're taking it to the dealer.  I even told John which wheel bearing it was and sure enough it was bad and all the others were going too!

What makes the fuel pump story funny is that John had filled the tank the night before so I was like, where do you think I went today?  lol

I got another one...this one is from my late teens.

I was 17 when I got my second kidney transplant.  It was my fist 6 antigen perfect match.  I had just gotten to the point where they'd let me go outside without a mask (back then they made me wear one every time I left my house).  When I went outside I discovered we had new neighbors across the street.  They were quite a bit younger than me but we eventually became friends.  Amy was abt 4 yrs younger and her sister, Stacy was 8 yrs younger than me.  They're weren't may people my age around there and those who were all did illegals things I didn't want any part of.

Anyway, fast forward 2 yrs and by then I've met a bunch of the guys in my neighborhood who were all about Amy's age or a little older.  My mom never cared what I or my sisters did so my house became the hang out.  Now, just because my mom didn't care didn't mean I didn't and I kicked every one of those guys out of my house at one time or another.  Eventually they'd come crawling back because everyone else was at my house.   :rofl;  But that's not the point.  One day in the summer of 1991 I was sitting in my living room with some friends.  Wayne lives 2 house down from me and he liked climbing the cherry tree in my front yard but my mom had told him to stay out of because he knocking the blossoms off before they ready.  Wayne had a chair from the dining table pulled out and Jeremy (Wayne's best friend), Steve and Amy were all sitting on sofa in front of the window.  Wayne jumped up saying he had to go home for dinner and walked outside.  Amy looks out the window and says, "Hey, Wayne's in the cherry tree again!"  I jumped up from the rocking chair I was in across from the sofa saying, "Is he?  Ooh, I'm gonna go spray him with the hose!"  Amy says as she turns around, "Ooh, I wanna watch!"  Jeremy also turned around.  Steve was tall enough to see with having to turn around.  I walked out the front door and Wayne says, "Oh hi Krisna!"  As I pick up the hose and start turning on the water he asks, "What are you doing?"  Now, he's at the top of the tree and at this point I'm standing maybe 2 ft from the base of the tree.  We didn't have sprayer nozzle so I kept putting my fingers over the end and taunting him.  Then, Amy and Jeremy started taking turns opening either end of the window and shouting, "Do it Krisna, Do it!"  At the same time Wayne starts saying, "I wouldn't do that if I were you, I really wouldn't do that!"  I stood there looking up at him thinking to myself, "What are you gonna do?  You're up there and I'm down here!"  I started spraying him and when he got about halfway down and dropped the hose, still running and ran back inside.  Steve says to me, "Quick! Get behind us, we'll protect you!"  I did and Wayne came in saying something like, "Get me something wet" as he walks into the kitchen.  As soon as he turned the corner into the kitchen Steve says to me, "Quick! Run into your room!"  I took off down the hallway with Wayne hot on my heels.  I got into my room leaned with all my weight onto the door, shut it and pushed the handle in and turned it to lock it.  Just and I got it locked I felt Wayne hit the door and let out a big UGH!  A few minutes later Jeremy came back and knocked on my door saying, "You can come out, the coast is clear!  I opened the door and there was water everywhere!  As I walked out to get the mop Amy says to me, Oh my gosh, Krisna, he looked like a X when he hit the door!  He never did get me back for that!  I wouldn't try that now though.  Aside from all the electronics people have on them today, I couldn't outrun him now!   :rofl; :rofl;

Yeah, I was mischievous as a teenager!  lol  But yeah, definitely wouldn't recommend spraying someone with a hose or pushing them into water now days!  You never know what they might be holding on them!

I have more stories from my youth that are kind of funny.  But I'll save it for another day.  I think I'm finally starting to get tired and move past my little bout with depression and whatever else I was feeling.  It was like despair and insecurity all built into it.  Problem is I don't know why I keep getting this way.  But I may finally be able to get some sleep now.
