I've read so many stories about doom and gloom whilst being on dialysis, and not too many about how well some of us get looked after. I've been a patient of both Southern and Eastern Health providers in Melbourne and can't rave enough about them. The doctors are excellent and the nurses are just lovely. I wouldn't want to be doing this anywhere else. Everyone at my base hospital was amazing, to the point where I was saddened to be farmed out to a satellite centre. And when I secured a permanent chair, requiring me to move satellite centres, I was even more saddened. Now that I'm in my new centre, I can't believe how lucky I am to get the care that I receive every time I have dialysis. On the two occasions that I've crashed thus far, the nurses have been brilliant. Having them look after me makes dealing with this so much easier. I will be forever indebted to them.

I am really delighted with my care, too - the clinic, my nephrologist and the renal unit.  I'm with Eastern Health (Box Hill)  and they're marvellous.  They're always there when I ring them (or get back to me really fast) and they always answer my many questions with thought and patience.  Whenever I've needed to go into hospital the renal unit staff are gobsmackingly marvellous.

Bless the Australian health care system!

Great to hear.  The clinic my husband goes to is fantastic too!!!  He recieves the ultimate care I can give!  Never crashes, if he comes anywhere near that, I back it off. Has not been in a Hospital , takes less medications, because he dialysis more. Wow, what a Novel idea!

So glad to know that some are getting excellent care!  They should be getting it!  :thumbup; :thumbup; :thumbup; times 3 to Aussies.  They have it figured out!!!

God Bless,

Laurie also has great care at dialysis - we are here in Sydney ( South Western Area Health ) . He has been in numerous hospitals , just about every department and i have never before encountered such efficient professional nurses with the exception of one or two .

I am in Perth WA and am pre-dialysis, egfr 12. I have been very happy with my care, everything that could be done to educate, and treat me seems to have been done. I have had the surgery for Av fistula, I am just about to have a second fistluagram to fix a stenosis, VS is great, staff at hospital have been great. Urologist has done everything to treat my urinary reflux ( cause of my renal failure) including botox injections to my bladder! I have had a visit to home dialysis training centre to meet the staff who will eventually be involved in my treatment. My Nephrologist is just a fantastic man whom I trust completely. It is very heartening to hear the experiences of other Aussies who are satisfied with their treatment while on dialysis.
