Hi,

I'm a reporter with the Wall Street Journal and I'm hoping to talk with patients who are on the kidney transplant waiting list about the proposals for changing national kidney allocation policy. As you probably know, the proposed change would give preference to younger people, the reasoning being that donor kidneys tend to last longer in younger patients than in older patients. Waiting time would be much less important.

If you are interested in talking about this, either pro or con or not sure, please email me at laura.meckler@wsj.com or call me at 202-862-9212.

Many thanks,
Laura Meckler

Hello Laura and welcome to IHD.  I'm sure you will get many responses.  This is the "introduction section".  Please pose your question in the Transplant Stories   http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=27.0   so more people will respond.

When you view that section you may find lots of information and opinions.

Thank you for your post and your interest.

Welcome Laura,

Like Rerun said, you will get a lot of information here at IHD. I thought the Wall Street Journal was more business directed. It's interesting that they would get involved in debatable issues. It's great that this subject will get the attention from a reputable source as the Wall Street Journal.

Thanks for taking an interest in IHD.
