Yep, one of the down sides to the NZ system is that we get the cheaper drugs too, and do use calcium binders.  No choice as the state drug buying entity (Pharmac) wont buy the better ones at the moment.  I believe non-calci binders are available privately in AU, but not in NZ.

In fairness they do provide a counter-med.   As in business if you cant remove a risk then you should try to minimize it, and I only take once per day at the moment.  As long as my monthly meds show Calcium, phosphate, and potassium are in range I think it its working. 

Don't use calci binders if you can afford not to.
