Travel to Czech Republic

I leave Wednesday for Prague and the Czech Republic. I am able to take this trip because we will be staying in one hotel in Prague, and for the last three days we're renting a car and driving to the spa towns on the German border. I've had the manual bags delivered to the Mandarin Oriental - I'll use them there, then load what's left for three days into the car.

It's a fantastic trip. We have private receptions at the US embassy, dinners with the musician accompanying us, Gareck Ohlsson. It's put on by the Terezin Music Foundation, and we will be going to the concentration camp of Terezin or Theresienstadt. The music foundation is trying to preserve the musical legacy of the people transported to Terezin, who were mostly artists, musicians, etc.

Baxter has been wonderful - no screw ups. The fluid arrived three days ahead of me.

I'm back from Prague! It was an awesome trip. We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Mala Strana. Walked to the old Jewish Quarter and saw the synagogues. We walked on the famous Charles Bridge. Went up to Prague Castle and the St. Vitus church. Drove out to a glass gallery. And the most potent day was when we went to Terezin concentration camp, saw the cells, the gestapo interrogation rooms, the secret synagogue.

The trip had been organized by the Terezin Music Foundation, and Garrick Ohlsson the pianist gave a performance of a piece the foundation had had written for the Prague Spring Festival. Garrick also conducted a master class and attended a special dinner with us in the 15th century wine cellar of the Mandarin.

I did have some problems on the trip. One was finding time for five manual exchanges. Don't tell my nephrologist, but most days I got in three exchanges. Felt like crap sometimes. I have trouble walking anyway (a bothched hip replacement at the ''world famous'' Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston - sciatic palsey), with lower energy, too, I had to take some cabs instead of walking, and had to skip a few events. I do feel like I went through the march to Terezin. Wouldn't have had trouble 30 years ago.

Baxter came through with flying colors (unlike México), and the hotel stored my nine boxes of ultrabags!

Travel is definitely possible on PD. I don't want to hear anybody say they'd like to travel but can't!!!

Sounds like you had a fantastic time. So pleased.
You have just got back in time, apparently they are having terriable weather in Berlin ,Czech and Austria, two months rain fell in two days, all the rivers have broken their banks and thousands of people have been evacuated.

Amazing!  how wonderful for you.... heck, im nervious about going 2 1/2 hours away w/nxStage   So wonderful when we get to hear these things!

Yes, Billybags - te weather was horrible. Rain every day. We saw a bit of flooding, but I guess it's really bad in Prague right now. Subways closed, streets blocked off. Lucky to be back.
