I trained for almost 3 weeks for NxStage.  We compromised on a schedule so I could still work during training (it was rough!).  I trained mid-afternoon to evening on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and mid-morning Saturday.  The nurses didn't want me to skip two days in a row, which is why we did Saturday mornings.

Are you considering NxStage?  I just had over 2 weeks of access issues (fistulagram indicated new buttonholes, infiltrated site, etc).  It gave me a new appreciation of NxStage - and even more Nocturnal.  Those treatments in center were rough!  As were the diet and fluid restrictions!

I have been on NxStage since October 2011, and on Nocturnal since the end of February this year.

March 2007 - Brother diagnosed with ESRD, started dialysis 3 days later
April 2007 - Myself and sister also diagnosed with Senior-Loken Syndrome (Juvenile Nephronophthisis and Retintis Pigmentosa)

Since then, I've tried PD three times unsuccessfully, done In-Center hemo, NxStage short daily, Nocturnal NxStage, and had two transplants.  Currently doing NxStage short daily while waiting for a third transplant.

Married Sept. 2011 to my wonderful husband, James, who jumped into NxStage training only 51 days after our wedding!

I did 4 weeks of training for NxStage.  I would have been done after 3 weeks, but had to have my fistula ballooned during the second week and that put me behind on forming my button holes.  I am going on my second month of being at home and I love the freedom it gives me.  I had to have a surgery to lower the flow of my fistula last week, so getting my needles in has been tricky (arm swollen and no tourniquet allowed).  I am making it work, though!  I can't say enough about how much better I feel.  Most of my treatments have been uneventful, but we have had a couple of ooops moments lol!  Definitely worth the effort!  Hope it goes well for you!'

PKD diagnosis at 17
Cancer May 2011, surgery and no further treatment but placed on 2 year wait for transplant
October 2011 first fistula in left wrist
April 2012 second fistula in upper arm, disconnect of wrist
January 2013, stage 5 ESRD
March 2013 training with NxStage home hemo
April 2013 at home with NxStage
April 2013 fistula revision to reduce flow
May 2013 advised to have double nephrectomy, liver cyst ablation and hernia repair. Awaiting insurance approval to begin transplant testing. Surgery in June.
June 2013 bilateral nephrectomy.
August 2013 finishing testing for transplant, 4 potential donors being tissue typed.
January 2014 husband approved to donate kidney for me
March 4th 2014 received transplant from awesome hubby. Named the new bean FK (fat kidney) lol!  So far we are doing great!

Its great they were so flexible I have not heard many ppl mention flexibility of training day/times.

Almost 3 weeks in clinic then 2 days at home!  It was very hard at first, but worth every headache!

I trained for two weeks in-center and two weeks at home.  My schedule was everyday at 7 am for the first three weeks.  I also worked half days for those first three weeks.   Then my schedule for the last week of training was when I got home from work around 5 pm, I was able to work my regular work schedule during the last week of training.

3 weeks. But I had previous medical training in the Army and that helped a lot.
And I was sticking myself in clinic before I even started the training so that wasn't an issue.
I do suggest EVERYONE be an in-clinic patient for at least 6 months BEFORE you try to go home. You get to see all the problems there that you will run into at home.
