I've heard that too about ice. Not sure if it is true or not. I'm an ice freak as well. I have to get it at Burger King because it's thin and won't break anything. I fill my ice maker and put it on "crushed ice" Works ok and that's pretty much all I do for liquids. I do go to the fridge for a swig or two of spring water. LOL Sometimes I think I am addicted to ice. Can that happen?

I think a lot use ice to keep their fluids down.. What I'll do is put 5 or 6 ice cubes in a glass and put just enough water to cover them.. that will last me hours
I would love to have an ice maker, or even just something that would crush ice cubes

I think its called "pica" which is a shortage of mineral(s) such as iron. I'm chewing ice (and I'm a little anemic, too) which drives my wife crazy.

yes craving ice is a sign of anemia. Thats how I first found out I was anemic. I complained to my doc about craving ice. All the time. If i was given a choice of my favorite food and ice I always choose the ice. There is even a store that has my "favorite". Everytime we pass that place I gotta have some. My anemia has since improved though I still love me some ice.

Riki, I have an ice cube crusher. It will grind/break about 5 or six large cubes into small pieces. It has a handle to turn and a device to suction into the bench top. About $20 here in Australia. I think I purchased mine from a kitchen shop. It is a bit of hard work but with a good resullt.

Not me, too much dental work so I have sensitive teeth. Though I do like those 12 ounce mini bottles of ginger ale.

My mom has been buying mini cans of ginger ale.. not sure what they are in ounces.. but they're 222mls, so about 2 thirds of a regular can.. I suck them down a little too quick, though.. *G*
I mentioned to a couple of friends about an ice crusher, and why I wanted it.. one of them told me that I might be better off with a bag and a hammer.. *L*

I love ice... even on a cold day when everyone is drinking a hot beverage. Iced tea with lemon and diet sierra mist lemon lime soda are my favorites and I even freeze my apple pie and thaw it for 20 sec in the microwave. I rarely drink however but rinse my mouth when I feel thirsty keeping the weight gain to a minimum.

I came across this post online for a similar "Nugget Ice" machine and it's $159.00 at Target which is what I saw but this paot claims cheaper so maybe it's an old post. Emerson Portable Ice Maker - $110-$138 http://www.target.com/dp/B0014DZ2YG?sort…

wow.. that sounds tasty.. I'd be careful with lemonade, though.. too much of it can put your potassium levels way up

You have to read labels but I think a lot of powdered lemonade mixes don't actually have any lemon in them and therefore not much potassium.
