persistent head pain in temple area

I have PKD with a creatinine of 2.5 and a BUN of 33 (60 yrs. old)(stage 4GFR).  I have had a pain in my head for over a year.  Almost everday in varying degrees of pain from about a 1 to a 7 on a scale of 1-10.  Had a CAT scan, MRI (both showed some sinus problems otherwise normal) went to two ENT's for sinus treatments (one had me on STRONG antibiotics for 85 days !!!), nose sprays, etc.  Went to an allergist, had acupuncture, went to physical therapy, went to a neurologist (he said it was a migraine even though I had no throbbing, aura, etc. typical of a migraine).  Most recently my GP is treating it with Inderal ER (60mg) with VERY limited results.  My GP said that he thought maybe it is all related to decrease in kidney function.  Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

Before I was diagnosed with kidney disease, I frequently had very severe headaches (temples as well as other parts of my head). I thought it was sinus problems, so I was taking all kinds of over the counter sinus medicine. When I finally went to a doctor for unrelated symptoms (diarrhea and abdominal pain), it was discovered that the headaches were from dangerously high blood pressure. Unknown to me, every time I had one of those headaches, I was probably VERY close to having a stroke or just dropping dead. That's what happens when I try to "be my own doctor" and never go to a real one.

I have had head aches before i had renal failure but they seemed to hurt so bad. I have had high blood pressure my whole life which is why i am on dialysis now. I  recently have had some very painful headaches that ended me in the hospital. The doctor told me i have "Tic Doulourex". I never heard of it. After reading and understanding it i am on a 50mg patch of Fentenayl that does take the pain away. I also had the same pain for two years around eight years ago in Nashville but they couldn't figure out what it was. I am glad i now have in under control.

Try a chiropractor. Your neck may be out of alignment. Worked for me! I had a head ache for years, went to a chiropractor and got my neck adjusted to where it is supposed to be.
