When all else fails run in circles, shout loudly

« on: February 17, 2013, 05:00:48 AM »

Sorry I have to tell someone  :Kit n Stik;  I just finished my 2,5 hour session, and only when pressing the button to

Check how many litres processed, did I find out it was 0 .

I forgot to press the Pureflow twice!,,,,  So again later. Did I read that it's bad to dialyse without dialysate?

I feel terrible.

Love to all, Cas

Cassandra,

When you dialyze without dialysate, you are just removing the fluid. No toxins will be removed as there was no dialysate to pull them out through the membrane.  Some people will run to get extra fluid off, but will not use dialysate. So yes, you did get a treatment, but only removed fluid.

No, no dear M3, The techno-honeybun made me check the amount of fluid in the bag, and it was half empty, so dialysate had gone through! If one doesn't press that daft button twice, there just isn't a reading of what has been done.

Thanks for the reactions though

Oooo now you've made me curious. Maybe just say a little bit? I regularly do the: Oops forgot the clamp bits, and still feel a bit disappointed about the amount of blood you loose than, and the mess it makes.
Aha I learned today That: when the arterial pressure doesn't read, and the pressure pod is not 'nicely pulsating' its

probably the pressure pod being too tight or too loose.     :waiting;

We did some doozies back in the day. The worst is forgetting to unhook the line from the Saline bag and having is spring a leak as the effluent ALL tries to go into that 1 liter bag!

 :thumbdown;

Glad you got it sorted with no ill effects.  :2thumbsup;

I'm ashamed to admit I did that 2 or 3 times!  Never actually sprang a leak, but came VERY close!

And then today I broke the connection from the arterial line while connecting myself :sir ken;
Norway I'll blame myself for that. Must have been plastic-fatigue or something. Had to reprime, and flushing the needles, but done :waiting;
