Where to put PD cath

I'm thinking about PD only because I can't get an access in my arm to work.  So where is your cath - above the belly button, to the right or left or below the belly button.

Hi Lynn! I have my PD cath just below my normal belt line. This lets me wear pants or a berthing suit withou it showing. I always have a PD belt on to keep it in place. I get mine from stickman, but there are others out there.

i actually had to look to see where mine was in relation to my belly button, mine was directly about 2 or 3 ish inches to the left of my belly button. i would tape mine in a loop down to right along my pant line, and tuck the cath right inside my  in the crease of my leg, and never had any issues. occasionally it would slide down but a quick adjustment and it was right back in place, i never tried any on the belts, never knew about them til i was within months of getting my trasplant, so figured 2 and a half years down why bother now. plus knowing myself i would prolly try to take the thing off nmot remembering my pod cath was in there.

oh i forgot, i surgeon usually places it bassed on whether ur left or right handed, im right handed so he said it is usually more conveinient to be on ur nondominat side.

Good point! I'm right handed and mine is to the left of my belly button.

Mine is about 3 inches to the left of my belly button. I prefer it there vs bellow the beltline as there is less iritation in my opinion.

I'm a lefty. My cath is about 3" to the right of my navel (toward my right hand) and about 2" below the level of my navel.

I am right handed and my first PD catheter site was on the right hand side slightly below my belly button level.  I found it very easy to manage.

My new catheter is on the other side and I am find it quite tricky to use.  The old catheter dangled well in the shower - it entered in an upward direction and then curled over inside me and travelled downwards.  The new one enters in a downward direction.  It doesn't dangle comfortably at all.  I have to tape it up loosely to shower and it is tricky to wear comfortably during the day.    And I have to tape it into position before I can put a dressing on the exit site (or grow a few more fingers)  I'm going to give it another month to settle in before I try dangling it again.  The PD nurses thought it was a little strange too from the way they were inspecting it.

On the strength of a couple of recent recommendations I have ordered some Stickman belts.  Maybe they will make thing easier.

youcan also have one put in the sterrnum area , I.e. chest.  just so you know your options

Mine is just to the left of my bellybutton and I use a Secure Way to keep my catheter during the day. I find the Stickman belt rolls up on me and pulls on the exit site. The Secure Way hangs around your neck like an ID badge holder.

Mine is 2 inches left of belly button and I just tape mine, but thinking about getting a stickman belt

Mine is to the left of my belly buttom and I bring it under my bra on the side and tuck it into my "cup".  Stays put and is unnoticeable.  Works for me......
