Today is thanksgiving, and all i can think about is the copious amounts of food I will be consuming over the next two days.
So, I came up with a nice little prayer before I chow down.
My Thanksgiving prayer-
Dear lord, please bless this food which I am about to receive. Bless the Turkey that will raise my albumin. Give me the strength to only eat one scoop of the forbidden mashed potatoes. Give me the courage to pass on the dessert table. And, when I have failed, give me the ability to waddle to dialysis to clean my blood well enough before labs, so my dietician doesnt lecture me. Amen

Today we are supposed to give thanks for our many blessings. What are you Thankful for?

I am thankful for my life. Ups and downs, it is mine and noone can change that. Good and bad, I have learned and grown. Sickness and Health(!?) I am still alive.
I have a wonderful, amazing, and handsome little boy. I have a pretty awesome boyfriend. I have the best Dad on the face of this earth.  I have a roof over my head, food in my belly, and clothing on my back (and other parts too, i promise!) I have great people in my life, online and off, that make my life worth living and give me love and hope. I have knowledge, creativity, and humor. I have strength and compassion. I have lived a life that is unlike any one else's because it is mine.  And, Even though some days I take all of these things for granted, without them, I wouldnt be who I am today.

Going through life tied to a chair!

« Reply #2 on: November 22, 2012, 09:11:05 AM »

My Thanksgiving prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for sending your Son to die for our sins that we may eat today.  Thank you for the food that I'm about to partake, bless this food to my body.... the Turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie but not the potassium .... just throw that to the devil.    Bless this country and continue to have patients with us.  Amen

I'm thankful that I can still live by myself.  It was a good summer but not a good year and I have another fistula surgery scheduled for December 11.   I hope we don't have a ton of snow and I hope I bounce back faster than last time.  Uggh

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!     :wine;
