Nocturnal home hemodialysis

« on: October 21, 2012, 10:03:28 AM »

Female and live in Ayrshire, Scotland.  Have been on dialysis on and off for approx 24 years.   PD for 7 years overnight at home, Transplant for 13 years, Hemodialysis for over 3 years and now do home nocturnal hemodialysis, originally single needle, double pump but now having a second buttonhole tracked to allow me to use two needles.  I found the single needle double pump on the Gambro machine too noisy, hence about to try the two needles, still on the Gambro machine.

Thanks guys for welcoming me.  It is good to know there are plenty of us in the same dialysis boat!!!.   Do any of you use Gambro machine and, if so, have you used single needle double pump.    I am trying to retrack so I can use two needles and hopefully the machine will be a bit quieter.   Nocturnal dialysis does make me feel a heck of a lot better and, so far, I am only doing it three nights a week.

Thank you Richard for accepting me of one of your own.  I do have a lot of experience on different forms of dialysis and am happy to answer any and all questions.   It is surprising what you learn over the years!.

 Welcome Marie,
One needle? Thats all. That wouldnt be too bad. I never heard of anyone only doing 1 needle.
