I tried not washing my hair for a few days, but it just seemed to get coarser.
I think the leave-in products I was using were just building up too much. I think I need to drop the Paul Mitchell products and return to Aveda, see if that helps. Liot got his haircut on Tuesday, I'd like to go in next week and get much of mine chopped. Gwyn says he loves long hair but sorry, hon, you're not here, it's so very hot, and I want to have some shape to my hair again. I may have to spring for a real salon, though. My hair is not always the easiest to style.

I was a hand model in the late 70's-early 80's (not as glamorous as it sounds) so I can't live without my old tried and true rosewater glycerin hand lotion plus a mani/pedi every two weeks or so. I don;t wear makeup unless I am going out for a special occasion, but daily moisturizer and serum (don;t know if they;re helping with the wrinkles but they make me feel better
) And I have extremely curly hair....started using Salon Grafix Conditioning Cleanser and it is the bomb!

Bleah, job hunting involves real make-up, so I had to break out the mascara, eye liner, shadow, and lipstick. I'm normally lucky if I get past spot cover and mineral foundation, and a dab of mineral blush so I don't look like a vampire. Is there anything more irritating than having an eye liner pencil break when you are in a hurry in the morning, and only one eye is done?

I stopped wearing "real" makeup when I stopped working in June. Now I just make sure my hair is presentable and I have my eyebrows on...I was ready for the grey hair (Which my hairdressers hides very well) but no one told me I would have grey, almost nonexistant eyebrows! Yes, they are mostly hidden by sunglasses....but still!

I use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer because I'm lazy. It has a fairly high SPF, and it provides not so much coverage as, well, a bit of brightening and color smoothing. I am pretty religious about using sunscreen, but they make me sweat something awful. The tinted moisturizer doesn't make me sweat quite so much. I've just started using one of those BB creams...I bought Smashbox's Photo Ready or something like that. Now that the weather is cooler, the BB cream is rather nice. That plus a swipe of mascara and and one of Sephora's lip glosses, and that's pretty much it.
I've been told that the grey in my hair looks quite nice, so I haven't bothered coloring it for years. But I'm thinking about maybe doing something about the grey now. I'm not sure I can be bothered. Maybe I'll just stop thinking about it.
That seems to be the easiest thing to do.
I used to have great gobs of hair, but post surgery and tacrolimus is taking its toll. I found a few strands of my hair in the refrigerator.
Losing your hair is bad enough without finding it wedged between the butter and the sour cream.

I gave this thread some thought before writing and I came up with an incident that happened yesterday; I spilled my after-shave lotion. I make my own after-shave lotion a gallon at a time. It lasts about a year if I shave everyday. Now the bathroom smells like a used-car salesman after his Aqua-velva shower. It did clean off the granite counter top. I suppose I’ll have to clean the whole counter space now.
I remember those golden days when I was lifting weights and had those broad massive pecs. Worked on those babies a lot, could bounce them up and down to any rock and roll tune. Alas, gravity has taken over and I may be up to a “B” cup now. There isn’t even enough for cleavage. Old age has turned me into a “used to be”.
Then there is hair care. I have resolved to avoid a comb-over at all costs. So, I got out the clippers, put on an attachment and gave myself a hair cut. Made a mess, but I looked good. I dazzled myself. Oooo Wee! Now I might as well be bald. I do neatly trim my beard. I don’t suppose any of you ladies do that. I let the hair grow out and it was all gray. What happened? It’s a conspiracy.
I noticed that no one asks for my ID at the liquor store anymore. That’s a hint? Right?
Dodged a forest fire here, yesterday. Our good fortune had the wind blowing the fire away from us. Bombers flew over the house all day long. Geez, I didn’t know there were other people in the world.

Pre-D I use to get all glammed up with makeup - foundation, powder, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara and lip gloss to go to work or school. Now i keep it simple with a tinted moisterizer and lip gloss. I might start wearing mascara agani cause my lashes are so light.

GL, you are right to avoid a comb over. Sooooo not a good look, EVER.
You make your own after-shave lotion? Now, THAT's cool! But I confess to being a bit wary that this stuff also cleans granite countertops. God only knows what it's doing to your face. LOL!
Rain, it's not always a bad thing to simplify things when circumstances force you to do so. Gives you more time to do other things, like cycling, right?

I have just discovered nail polish again at the age of 68. I never used to bother until I read that nail polish makes old hands look younger. It does, I love it. I am now amassing lots of colors, even the granddaughter says they look good.

Moosemom you are so right. This morning I woke up late and I was able to get out of the house in 30 mins including a shower and blow drying my hair. It was so quick and easy.
I do get all dolled up when my boyfriend and I go out on a date, which isn't very often, since dates for us these days include doing sports.. I have also noticed that since i simplified my routine my breakouts have decreased.
The other thing I enjoy is going for a facial a couple of times a year. I always go once in the spring and once around my b-day. I better book an appointment soon since my b-day is next week. hehehe
