In Aug 1997 hubby had his first PD treatment!!!  We knew absolutely nothing about kidney disease or dialysis at the time - there was no web sites like this one.  10 years earlier he was told by a kidney specialist that in 2 - 10 years he would need dialysis or a transplant.  He was 10 years almost to the day because he strictly followed the diet he was given by the dietician.  He spent almost 3 years on PD until it stopped working and he got extremely sick.  He then did in center hemo for 6 years and felt really well.  The past 6 years has been nocturnal home hemo and he has felt wonderful.  There have been bumps in the road but this site and others like it have really helped to cope with the stress!! This has changed our life but has made us much more aware and appreciative of the little things in life :grouphug;  Thank you for being there  :grouphug;
