Me & my precious Miracle !!!

« on: August 13, 2012, 08:01:44 PM »

Today I did my normal dialysis like usual for 3 hours. I always wait till bed time & I take my gauze off my fistula. Well when I went to do this a clot started to pull out of my fistula & it start to bleed right away.
( I don't deal well with blood) So I quickly held the gauze back on the site. Now in all the years I've been doing dialysis I have never had this happen! Should I be worried if that clot breaks off inside me? This may sound stupid but I have never had a clot before. Its late at night, so its not like I can call a doctor & now I'm paranoid!
Some input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

They usually clot and form a scab.  I would just put some new gauze on and tape and hold it for 10 minutes.  It is strange that it went all day and still pulled a clot.  I'm sure you will be awake all night checking it or at least I would.  But, just check it and if no scab forms then you need to call.  Or go to ER and they may have to put a stitch in it.  I have heard of that before although never done to me.

Sorry this happened to you late at night.   :stressed;

Thanks for your input rerun. Yeah I don't think I'll sleep to well since it has me paranoid. My fistula normally stops bleeding fairly fast. I've never had a clot pull out of my fistula before. I'll have to see how it is in the morning.
Thanks
