Nala - Mom's Cat

« on: July 30, 2012, 07:00:21 PM »

On Sunday, July 29, my mom went to be with our lord. She went peacefully in her sleep. At least that is what it looked like to my sister who found her in her bed, looking peaceful with her cat Nala by her side. I had just seen her the night before. We were at my sisters for the afternoon, I took mom home and stayed until 9:30 pm. Got her into pjs, made her a cup of tea and said see you early in the morning since we had a retirement party to go to. She had been dizzy earlier in the day. My sister gave her some oj and when I saw her a few hours later I asked if the oj helped. She shrugged her shoulders.

Mom had been feeling depressed the last few weeks. A lot went on and suffice it to say that I am in awe of her strength and endurance.

The last thing that mom knew before she passed was that her nephew, Theodore Matthew Glende, was killed in action in Afghanistan. Now her brother is dealing with his son and his sister's death within two days of each other. We are all in a tailspin. Trying to keep it together.

Thank you for all your support over the years. I am sorry I didn't visit much lately. Mom was in a rehab for about a month, went home for about two weeks and went back into another rehab for another month. She had been home about a week before she passed away.

How blessed she is to have gone peacefully in her sleep.

I am so sorry for your family, especially your uncle.  His world must be tilting on its axis.

My prayers are with you all. :cuddle;

Oh, ODAT, I'm so sorry. What a heartbreaking week for everyone.

I remember you welcoming me and telling me about your mother when I first joined IHD. I was impressed with her determination then, and I'm impressed with it now. Thanks for sharing her story with us.

Hugs to you and yours. :grouphug;

Nala - Mom's Cat

« Reply #12 on: July 31, 2012, 04:42:07 PM »

Thank you all for the warmest hugs and prayers. Yes, Rerun, I agree. Nala was quite attentive to mom all that night. The woman who watched Nala took her for good thankfully.

Tomorrow is mom's service. Thursday the cemetery. Friday is my cousin's service. Saturday the cemetery. They are flying flags half-mast on Thursday for Matt. That's what we called him.

I'm still going to peek my head in to see how everyone is doing. I haven't been here in so long. Glad you still remember me   :)
I went to pick the smiley guy and he must have been in the smile mode when I clicked because when I saw the popup text it showed Rant! Yeah, I could go that way too.

Take care

My condolences to you and your uncle.  That is such a hard thing to deal with, but know now, that they rest in Our Lords Loving Arms!
No more suffering will they feel, and that should give you peace!

Again Sorry for your loss,
