Does anyone watch the show Prison Break on FOX?  During last night's episode (Monday, February 19), one of the characters revealed that his daughter had PKD.  Since I have PKD, I know that it is a genetic kidney disease.  He took his daughter to a free clinic, and the doctor told him that she would need to start dialysis right away.

The doctor wanted to stick a catheter in her neck there in the office.  I did not see him get any pain medication or anything to knock her out.  I know that every time I had a catheter replaced, I was put under general anesthetic.  This doctor on the show was going to just run in a catheter into the neck of an eight-year old girl.

Did anyone else watch that show?  Or, does anyone have any other comments?

Thanks!

I saw it.  All I could think is why would a clinic even have one handy to stick in her.  ???

Yeah, he left the clinic with her, and then eventually got her in to a hospital where she could get legitimate dialysis (though, it looked like they just had her attached to an IV pole when they showed her at the ending).
