For the last time in our lifetime (unless you live until 2117), Venus is travelling across the face of the Sun within view of us here on Earth.  It is so cool; I'm watching in online in real time on two different sites.  If you are interested,

On the above site, they've set the transit to music!

On this site, toward the top of the page, you can move to different telescopes mounted in different sites.  Don't bother looking at sites in Asia and the Pacific because they have yet to have sunrise; in these areas, you can view the transit later on in US time if you are still awake.  For now, go to the telescopes at U of NM and in Norway.  I'm not sure when the feeds from Asia and Australia will come online.

The transit lasts for about another 6 hours.  Enjoy!

I've been checking it all morning courtesy a piece of paper and a pin hole.  Mind boggling!

It's starting to cloud over now though.  Bummer

The first thing that came to mind was, Can we send that NJ mother who is overly tanned there so she can really fry herself silly?

Eye impairments and blindness in one eye began in 95, major one during visit to the Indy 500 race of that year
   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
     - vitrectomy in good eye post tx November 2003, totally blind for 4 months due to complications with meds and infection

Diagnosed with ESRD June 29, 1999
1st Dialysis - July 4, 1999
Last Dialysis - December 2, 2000

Kidney and Pancreas Transplant - December 3, 2000

Cataract Surgery on good eye - June 24, 2009
Knee Surgery 2010
2011/2012 in process of getting a guide dog
Guide Dog Training begins July 2, 2012 in NY
Guide Dog by end of July 2012
Next eye surgery late 2012 or 2013 if I feel like it
Home with Guide dog - July 27, 2012
Knee Surgery #2 - Oct 15, 2012
Eye Surgery - Nov 2012

I watched it on the way to drop off my labs at FedEx, wearing one of Andy's welding shields. Got a lot of strange looks but it was awesome! I'm so glad I got to see it with my own eyes.

(I asked Andy if he ever looks at the sun just because he can. He does.)
