I do CCPD nightly with an additional manual in the afternoon. My wife and I are looking at taking a bike ride from Colorado to Idaho to visit my sister just outside Yellowstone National Park in July. I've already set up with Baxter to deliver my dialysate solution to the cabin, so that's not an issue. And the trailer for my bike will have enough capacity to carry all my supplies and my cycler, so I'm good there (i think...) My question is does anyone doing CCPD, or even CAPD, use a septic system? Sis's cabin is far enough out that they are on septic. I don't want to be causing them a problem dumping my drain bags down the tank if it's going to be an issue. TIA

My parents had a septic system while I was growing up. I can't think why this would be a problem. I guess you could pick a small area outdoors and kill a patch of vegetation with your bags.

I did NxStage with a septic and didn't have any problems. Not sure what the difference is in fluids though.

Joe, Waste is waste.... the dialysate is nothing more than an electrolyte solution and when you drain, it is no different than regular urin.... just the delvery is different... ///M3Riddler

We have a septic system and never had a problem draining while I was on PD. As some have waste is waste. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the responses all! I just wanted to be sure I didn't kill their tank while we were visiting. Looking forward to the ride!

Hi Joe I did a ride up in that area last July just before I started D. Racked up 4500 miles in ten days and went through six states. Now my bike rides / camping trips are decided by how many nights supplies I can pack on the bike and in the trailer. There is no better way to see the country than on a motorcycle. Enjoy your ride!

Last summer I flushed the contents of drain bags into a septic tank for 3 months also. No problems. If you think about it, greasy dish water empties into septic tanks every day, plus God knows what goes into them too.
