oh I know that anxiety well... been there and still doing that still.
I am puzzled by a suggestion to "stay" dehydrated. very odd. dehydration is difficult for a kidney as well as fluid overload.
well the idea was to drag out the kidney as long as possible and get the surgery done before i need dialysis. that was the plan but i guess murphy's law comes in to play everywhere. so that apparently didn't work out too well.
Well I'm no nephrologist, and I certainly don't play one on TV but this still confuses me. Y'see dehydrating one's kidney can lead to *acute* renal failure (this is one reason we lucky folks with transplants are encouraged to drink MORE rather than less fluids - which I understand is a killer for you to read - sorry
) - so to intentionally put a diseased kidney under further stress in that way seems a bit puzzling to me. Of course maybe they meant by keeping to a fluid restriction, which to my way of thinking os different - since it makes sense to avoid excess fluid buildup in the system if it's not coming out via the kidney or other means you don't want all that fluid going around your heart or lungs.
So maybe I'm just misinterpreting your meaning by "dehydrate" but it did set off some mini bells in my head (which is a change from all the voices
)
I'm sorry you can't avoid D - however studies do show that short term exposure to D has no ill effects on the outcome of a translant (I think >2 years can have some impact)
