hmmm Having trouble increasing the font size.... My name is Debbie and I have been seeing the neph for a year now. So far, dialysis is not in the immediate future but I thought I would check out some resources and hopefully get a few questions answered. I'm 53 married 13 years to my wonderful husband, Kit and I am a diabetic with congestive heart failure (CHF) I've had several eye surgeries this last year and I'm doing very well, but it would help to get that font bumped up! I like to crochet, bead and play cards, spend time with my multicultural family (a dog and a cat) and we are involved in church activities. If I'm going to have to do this, I think I'd prefer having d at home. According to the dr, I'm not eligible for transplant due to my weight. sooo looking forward to meeting y'all. Oh yeah, we live in Portland Oregon.

TTYS take care. Deb

Welcome, Deb! If home hemo is what you want, let your nephrologist know. That's what we did! Welcome to IHD!

Hi Deb, I'm in Spokane, WA so pretty close.  Smart to get educated on dialysis.  Know your options so you won't have any last minute decisions.  Stick with us here at IHD.  Lots of information.

Hi Deb,
Are you having trouble seeing other things on your screen from your computer? If so there are computer programs that can help that are specifically for visually impared people. Otherwise adjusting zoom level in your browser can help you read what's on the internet. I can totally understand vision trouble due to diabetes.

Anyway, Hello :waving;

Welcome to the board.  Here's hoping you don't have to start dialysis any time soon.  Do you see a nephrologist ?  Has your doctor referred you to a dietician to help you with the renal diet needs ?  I'm diabetic too and it is REALLY challenging to figure out a proper eating plan.  Also,  some light exercise like walking can be helpful too.  Do everything you can to avoid the big D ..... and read everything you can on this board.  There's a ton of information.  I'm curious about your transplant comment.  Has your doctor discounted the fact that you *can* lose weight ?  Has he offered help and support and guidance to other professionals that might be able to help you ??  BEST OF LUCK

I did not catch the last part till Todd brought it up and made me look. My question is which doctor told you this? Is it a doctor associated with the transplant center team or your regular doctor or nephrologist. If it was the latter, take it with a grain of salt until you actually talk to people with the transplant center who set the rules of who they accept. Each center (atleast in the US) has a slight diference on their acceptance policies.

Ok how did you guys increase the font size? Yeah, it was the neph that told me that the BMI had to be at a certain point to be accepted for transplant. I also have fibromyalgia and something that affects my breathing so it's hard to exercise like I need to do. Used to do 90min 2x a week (always had a hard time getting that 3rd time in) but now have shortness of breath. They've run heart and lungs and can't find anything remarkable there. Fine for them. I still need a w/c to go any distance. ARG. I know, it's all in my head. I have a few questions. I'll take them over to the general board. CU there.

Take care

Deb, to enlarge font of what you typed, type message first then highlight the message and then look above the icons for the usual looking paragraph editing tools found in Word and click on the down arrow and choose a size number and then click on Post at the bottom of the message window. Even before hitting post, you can preview the message in large font.

However, this does not help you read past post on the board. This is were the zoom function comes in to help on your internet browser. Or if your using Microsoft, use the magnifier in accessability options, or if in Apple I forgot how, but maybe in Settings and accessability. Other option that I have posted previously on the board in the diabetes section is the aid of software that is a magnifier and also a reader depending on version you purchase.

Ok that's where I went wrong. Enlarge after. Could be a handy tool. I've been using the cntrl + feature and that's been working well. Thanks for such a warm welcome.

Take care
