In the paperwork I had to complete and return for starting the donor process, they asked me WHY I wanted to potentially donate an organ.  It said to "write your answer below" or attach a separate piece of paper.  The space provided to put your answer below gave you room for about 6 words.  Seriously? :urcrazy;  If someone can answer that in 6 words AND have that answer pass your qualifying test, the rest of this process should be a cake walk!

I attached a separate piece of paper.....hope I didn't get TOO wordy!

My reason for being interested in potentially donating a kidney to a person in need of one is I understand the drastic lifestyle changes and the potential dire consequences that a dialysis patient can have without obtaining such a gift.  I also understand that it can take years before a recipient may be able to acquire a cadaver kidney and even then, the odds of it being successful are far less than receiving one from a living donor.  It has always been in my nature to help others.  I volunteer at my local animal shelter, I volunteer at my son’s school, I donate my time to help with meals for the homeless and Toys For Tots through the Salvation Army.  I’m a giver……and this is yet another way I can give.  I believe in taking advantage of every opportunity I can to make a difference in the lives of others to the best of my abilities.  Furthermore, I know that providing someone with a healthy kidney can have a life transforming effect and improve the quality of that person's life miraculously.  I hope to be able to help someone achieve that kind of miracle.

'Because I want someone to be able to live life again.'

(is all I would have written, and did say when verbally asked why I wanted to donate.)

But I like your response!
